Zach attends Vince and Ciela’s wedding in Cape Breton

Today was another day of travelling – this time to a wedding for Ciela and Vince in Cape Breton.

Welcome to Cape Breton

The drive from the Patterson’s to the wedding (Whale Cove, Cape Breton) took a little over four hours, so once we had arrived Zach needed a diaper change to ensure he was in top-top shape for the ceremony.

Oh dear, this is a stinker!

The wedding was at a beautiful location (Whale’s Cove Bluff) in Cape Breton and the weather was perfect. Although the picture above looks slightly overcast, by the time the wedding began it was bright and sunny.

We sat near the back since we figured that Zach would get ‘bored’ by the proceedings before to long and want to crawl around and make noise. However, for the better part of the ceremony (it started 45 minutes late) he was really good and was quite excited by all the people around him.

Ciela had her three sisters and a friend from Oshawa (Amy Oakes) in her bridal party and Vince had Simon (Kember), Alex (Mazerolle), Jesse (Kancir) and Patrick (Labelle) in his party.

The reception was held in a town (Judique) that was about an hour’s drive from the wedding ceremony, so Julia and I got out of there pretty quickly so we could get Zach fed and hopefully have him sleep on the way over, which he did. Before we left we had a family photo taken:

I should mention that Vince and Ciela’s wedding was one of the most ‘guest friendly’ we have ever been to. Normally there is that long and drawn out time between the ceremony and reception, but not so with these guys – they had done their wedding pictures earlier (before the wedding actually took place) so the amount of time between the ceremony and reception was only two hours or so!

They had a really nifty idea when it came to getting your food at the reception. Vince and Ciela had rigged up a camera with a bunch of props, and as each table came through to get their food (it was done buffet style), they had to pose for the camera, using some of the props provided.

Although we couldn’t stay for the whole reception, Zach had a really fun time laughing, shouting and playing on the floor. During some of the speeches, when the crowd clapped he would should with delight and clap to – it was really cute!

After leaving at approximately 9PM, we headed towards our hotel (Normaway Inn) – more about that tomorrow!
