Yesterday we had an awesome opportunity to spend some time with some of the other young families that go to River Road Gospel Hall. Andrea planned a camping trip to a farm in Casselman, which was a little under an hour away from our home.
We had a hot and humid week and were hoping that Saturday wouldn’t be more of the same. It was pretty hot, but not as bad as the previous days, and we had some buildings (with fans!) that kept us a little more cool.
Mike, Zach and I aren’t the camping type, so we just went for the day. When we arrived though, we found that the camping was a little different then we would have expected- they were ‘camping’ indoors in a building with washrooms, a kitchen, and some fans.
After lunch, we went on a hayride to see the cows. Zach chattered away despite the heat.
I don’t like water and rarely bring it anywhere, but brought this frozen water bottle to keep Zach’s bottles cold in the car. I was glad that I had brought it!
Then we went to see some animals around the farm. Zach loves animals, and apparently they love Zach’s feet. The farm had goats, horses, llamas, a donkey, plenty of cows, rabbits, geese, a peacock, emus, etc.
The above picture was taken in the woods on a scavenger hunt. The wooded area was nice and cool, which wasn’t what I expected. Zach is still getting a kick out of the water bottle.
After a walk through the corn maze, the kids went to play with some motorized cars, trampolines and even had a blow-up castle. I was impressed by the trampolines and had to try them out, and I think what Mike really wanted to do was to play with the motorized cars himself!
Zach started to wind down, but after I put him on the trampoline that perked him back up again!
After dinner, we headed home. It was a great day. We love when Zach has a good time, and he enjoyed the animals, and chattered throughout the day. He missed his afternoon nap, but was still quite content. There were lots of things for him to look at and do. Mike and I had a great time too, spending time with other Christians, and watching our little man’s reactions.
