At approximately 10 AM EST, mama was called to the scene of loud crying and wailing at the intersection of the living room and the hallway. Officer mama radioed for help to the lone dispatch officer – dada – as the injuries inflicted to the victim were quite severe. At first glance it appeared a large shark had bitten this unfortunately lad, but tests (and basic logic) would quickly prove that the teeth marks on the victim’s skin (his right hand) were that of a human.

DNA samples were collected and run though the crime database and a match was returned!

Police have issued the following poster and warning that the perpetrator is armed (with teeth) and dangerous.

As you may expect, their has been a public outcry over this tragic event. Cries for justice and peace. The cries have not fell on deaf ears, as the police have moved forward and confiscated all car-cars in the area pending the final ruling of the courts.

After a few visits to his room to “encourage” him to sleep, I had finally had enough and removed everything metallic from his bed.

You can probably guess what happened next: big time tears and shouts for “Mama”, who at the moment was in bed … and sleeping. I left Zach alone to consider his sorry state of affairs. Apparently it was going to involve a lot of crying and moaning. After a few minutes i had finally had enough.

“ZACH, GO TO SLEEP RIGHT NOW!”

I shouted in a voice level loud enough to be heard at Auntie’s voice. Amazingly, Patrick and Julia stayed asleep, and, there was complete silence from Zach’s room.

A few minutes later, feeling just a bit guilty for shouting, I went back into his room to see how he was doing. Zach was all wrapped up in his white blanket and nearly asleep.

“Sorry for shouting”, I said. “Did it scare you?” Zach nodded and said “yes” very quietly.

“Would you like to have one of your car-cars to hold?” Again, a nod and a very quiet “yes” from Zach.

Then as I turned my back to go and find him a car, he jumped up with a grin and said “two cows” (cars).

Everything was ok again. Mr. Gruff was defeated.

Now that the snow is gone and spring is well on the way, we’ve had a chance to play with it outside and Zach has really loved it! He’s still a bit ‘green’ on how all the controls work, but that hasn’t dampened his enthusiasm.

Julia was saying that yesterday he kept talking about it – how the blue car was fast and did lots of crashes!

Today I played up the sadness factor big time with him, and he ate it up like candy. Each time we thought his sadness was abated, he would dig deep within himself and start all over again. At one point I’m fairly certain he had no idea what he was crying about, but cry he did!

Poor Pat. But not to worry, sadness and tears in Pat’s life are but for a brief moment.

Zach was slightly more interested in taking the lid on and off the bottle than feeding his young child consistent, but I guess there is a steep learning curve to parenthood.

Safe to say it’s a good thing it was Noah and not Patrick who was in charge of gathering up the animals in the ark, otherwise we’d be short a few zebras right about now…

Now Zach proudly sits on the couch and sketches surfs the web while scratching writing out emails to his family and friends.

Am I allowed to use it (as I tried tonight)? “No dada, Gacky” (No dad, it’s Zachy’s).

Apparently those ‘rules’ do not apply to Zach.

Patrick had all sorts of fun playing horsey on grandma’s knee, while Zach busied himself with bossing grandpa around and also playing with a new toy fire truck that they had brought him.

Patrick must have been feeling especially excited as not only did he show off his new crawling skills, but he also was standing up straight with grandma as well! I wonder if he will start walking sooner than what we expect?

Tomorrow we plan on going downtown for Winterlude. The weather should be fairly cooperative so we’re looking forward to a good day.
